The day started off fantastic. The Memorial Day Bolder Boulder 5k Race comes right through our neighborhood. I had some home made toast and a glass of O.J., the DJ on the gas station corner started playing some funky grooves, and a the first of the thousands of runners started to pass…then on up to work I went.
Waterdale Ranch is offered exclusively through Kirks Fly Shop where I met Brady and wife Jordi at this beautiful private stretch of river.
We caught mostly wild rainbows and browns on a variety of flies. The green pandemic mayfly (it’s the name of a fly we used) picked up the most fish for Jordi. Having seined the river first thing in the morning, we saw numerous green colored blue winged olive mayfly nymphs and put a matching fly from the box on to the nymph rig. Brady did well with streamer fishing and put a fish on the line mid-day that was the in the BIG FISH category. The fish went shooting downriver, pealed a bunch of line off the reel and sent us running downriver after it. It was 6 inches away from my net when the line snapped, and off he went. You can see by the pictures that even without the monster fish, we still made it a great day of fishing.
Thanks again Chad! Had a really good time!
