Three brothers that were young and athletic make for some easy guide work. I brought the brothers through some water that may have given older legs a bit of trouble, but we waded with ease and found a great number of fish to cooperate with our flies. Fly selection wasn’t a huge importance today. We took fish on Red 2-bit hookers, blue poison tongues, copper ribbed RS2s, soft hackle sow bugs, foam wing RS2’s, natural pheasant tails…basically all flies from a size 18-22. It was a good morning of fishing.
I had a great time introducing the boys to the excellence of the sport of fly fishing. If one of them is anything like myself, they will be working on technique for many years to try and repeat a successful day like the one we had on this day.
