6/5pm Peter and Nelson

Peter and Nelson are both from Denver and had a little bit of experience with fly fishing.  We did a little entomology lesson to start the day, and I pulled out the helpful flyselector to show why I chose the flies that were on the rig.  Most of the day was spent trying to read the indicator, get a good drift, and set the hook appropriately.  The afternoon proved to be a little more finicky as the river was starting to get a little crowded and the trout more weary.  When this happens, hook setting becomes of great importance with timing and speed.  I like to say that a hook set needs to be fast and soft;  Fast enough to set the hook before the fish spits out the metal with thread, but also soft enough to not rip the tiny hook out of the fishes mouth.
