We had an unsuccessful morning of nymph fishing, which is very uncommon for this water. I tried all the flies in my box…well, not all of them. I’m glad we figured out what was happening before it was too late to catch some fish. The Cicadas were falling from the trees, and the trout were keyed in on big dry flies. We slapped the water a couple times with a Chernobyl Ant and sure enough, a big fish came up and inhaled it. Hook setting was a little difficult with all of the excitement, but we still managed to end the day with everyone catching some fish on a big dry fly. Thanks to Guide Reed for taking the other half of the trip and getting the boys into some great fish.
